A ministry of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist church
Who We Are
Camp in the Community (CITC) is a ministry of Holston Conference Camp and Retreat Ministries. It is a week-long day camp program for children in poverty. The camp operates in partnership with a host church located in an impoverished community, alongside a sponsor church in the Holston Conference. We provide a high-quality summer camp experience to those who could not otherwise afford to attend summer camp.
This is for the purpose of sharing the gospel in a tangible way and developing lasting relationships between the community and the church. In addition to reaching children in poverty, the program works with area youth to develop them as leaders in the church. Youth are provided leadership and childcare training and serve as assistant counselors.
"Camp is fun because it gives us time to learn about God and be outside and not on our electronics."
– Camper at Bradbury UMC
"My boys enjoyed all the camp activities. They both loved being with their friends from the community. They came home singing songs and talking about bible stories and verses. Great experience!"
– Camper Parent
"It recharged our church! The sound of children's voices in our sanctuary, the laughter and squeals, silly games -- all of it -- brought us joy and hope that we made a difference in the lives of those children. It was such a blessing to share God's love with them.”
– Middle Creek UMC

"CITC is one of the most authentic expressions of the love of Christ reaching the broken people of our world.
