Some of the best ministry leaders are formed by being given meaningful work, trusted relationships, room to try new things, and people willing to walk alongside them.
Camp in the Community offers two internship tracks each year, with opportunities beginning in April and October.
Both are designed for emerging leaders who want more than something to add to a résumé. Our interns become part of the life of the ministry, gain hands-on experience, grow as leaders, and explore what faithful ministry can look like in communities beyond the walls of the church.
Whether you are discerning a call to ministry, preparing for work with children and youth, exploring nonprofit leadership, or simply looking for a place to use your gifts in meaningful ways, there may be a place for you here.
TWO WAYS TO JOIN US
the april track
From summer ministry to year-round relationships.
Our April internship begins as Camp in the Community is preparing for its busiest season and gives interns the opportunity to experience ministry from the inside out.
This track is rooted in the belief that lasting ministry with children, youth, and families is built through consistent, relational presence, not simply one-time events. The model grows out of an initiative designed to move from intermittent programming toward sustained leadership, discipleship, mentoring, and partnership with a local church and its surrounding community.
Interns have the opportunity to learn what it takes to prepare for and lead summer ministry while also exploring the bigger question: What happens after camp is over?
The experience may include opportunities to:

Build relationships with children, youth, families, churches, and community partners

Assist with preparation and leadership for Camp in the Community

Participate in discipleship and mentoring

Help develop year-round opportunities for connection

Learn how churches and community organizations can work together

Gain experience in program planning, communication, logistics, and ministry leadership

This internship is especially suited for someone who wants to experience the energy of summer camp while learning how those relationships can grow into meaningful, year-round ministry.
the october track
Step into ministry beyond the summer season.
Camp may be most visible during the summer, but the work of Camp in the Community happens all year long.
Our October internship gives emerging leaders the opportunity to experience another side of the ministry: building relationships, developing programs, supporting churches and communities, preparing for what comes next, and helping turn new ideas into meaningful ministry.
This is a chance to slow down enough to ask good questions, try new approaches, learn from experienced leaders, and participate in the behind-the-scenes work that makes transformational ministry possible.
Depending on the intern's gifts and interests, the experience may include work in areas such as:

The October track is a strong fit for someone who wants hands-on ministry experience while having space to learn, discern, create, and grow.

We believe emerging leaders need more than observation.
Our interns are invited into real ministry.
You will have opportunities to contribute ideas, take responsibility, work alongside experienced leaders, build relationships, solve problems, and see how ministry develops from an idea into something that serves real people.
You will also have people walking alongside you.
Internships should be places where you can ask questions, make mistakes, discover your strengths, receive feedback, and better understand where God may be leading you next.

You do not need to have your entire future figured out.
In fact, part of an internship is discovering what comes next.
These opportunities may be a good fit for college students, recent graduates, young adults discerning ministry, future educators or nonprofit leaders, or anyone interested in gaining meaningful experience serving children, families, churches, and communities.
We are looking for people who are curious, dependable, willing to learn, comfortable building relationships, and excited to be part of a team.
